Cookie policy

This website, shawkatova.com, is run by Tamara Shirin Shawkatová, a graphic designer based in Bratislava, Slovakia. This page explains which cookies the site uses, what they are for and how you can control them. It also covers the little personal data the site processes, because the site has no other privacy notice. Last updated 9 September 2026.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They let a site remember your choices between page views and let analytics tools recognise a returning browser. Cookies set by this site are first-party cookies; cookies set by a service the site uses are third-party cookies.

Cookies this site uses

The site uses one strictly necessary cookie and, only if you allow it, the cookies of Google Analytics 4. It contains no advertising, no social media widgets and no contact form; the email link simply opens your own mail program.

Strictly necessary

site-cookie-consent (first-party): stores the choice you made in the consent bar and the version of this policy it applies to. It holds nothing else. It is kept for 12 months, after which the site asks you again. Because it exists only to remember your own choice, it does not require consent.

Analytics, only with your consent

If you choose Allow in the consent bar, the site loads Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). It measures how the site is used: which pages are visited, from which country and type of device, and how visitors arrive. This shows me which projects people look at. Nothing loads before you make a choice. If you choose Decline, no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google.

_ga (third-party, Google): tells one browser apart from another with a random identifier. Kept for 2 years.
_ga_ followed by the property identifier (third-party, Google): keeps the state of your current visit. Kept for 2 years.

Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses: Google truncates them before the data is logged. Google Signals and the advertising features are switched off, so no advertising profiles are built and nothing is shared with Google advertising services. Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically.

The legal basis for analytics cookies is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR and Section 109(8) of Act No. 452/2021 Coll. on electronic communications). You can withdraw it at any time, as easily as you gave it, without affecting what was measured before.

Google may process the data on servers in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, and the transfer is additionally covered by the European Commission standard contractual clauses in Google’s data processing terms. Your choices

The consent bar appears on your first visit. You can change your decision at any time through the Cookie settings link in the footer: declining removes the Google Analytics cookies from your browser and stops any further measurement. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. The site works without cookies; you will simply be asked about analytics again on your next visit.

Other data the site processes

The site is hosted on servers in the European Union (Nuremberg, Germany). The server keeps technical access logs (IP address, time, requested page, browser type) for security and troubleshooting and deletes them after 30 days at the latest; the legal basis is my legitimate interest in running the site safely (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR). If you write to me by email, I keep the correspondence for as long as our conversation needs it.

Your rights

Where the data described here counts as personal data, the GDPR gives you the right to access it, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic (Úrad na ochranu osobných údajov Slovenskej republiky, Hraničná 12, 820 07 Bratislava, dataprotection.gov.sk).

If the site starts using new cookies or the purposes change, this page is updated, the date above changes and the consent bar asks for your choice again.
